Bastards were not uncommon.
Not even royal bastards. They were hidden and shunned, but expected, to an extent. Those that showed promise were given positions of worth, allowed to become something within the confines of the kingdom.
But those like Rey...those like him, different, unique, unusual, were hidden away, ignored, forced to be forgotten, if only they were so lucky.
Rey was fine with that. Staying below his sister's notice, out of the Court's eye, were goals of his. He cared for the animals he called friends, and lived his life in peace.
But when war came to his kingdom, and every other able bodied man was set to the sword, Rey could not stand in the shadows...
And if he had, he'd never have met Euridone.
