Her homeland was far across the waves, in a land that most people thought more myth than reality. Those who travelled there did so at their own peril, and those who returned often came back mute, for what they saw there there were loathe to share.
There was a reason for that.
The men and women who called Kirbi home were not...human. They were not elf, nor dwarf, nor djinn, nor dragon, but something a little like all of them, and like nothing at all.
Once, a long time ago, their people were cursed by a vengeful god - two, vengeful gods, really...one cursing the children of the other to a fate of scales and fangs and venom, in a land as uncaring and harsh as the goddess who birthed them.
Jaias came from that land, and that heritage, but she thought escaping from there would save her the fate of her sisters and mothers.
